Shearwater Projects has provided a wide range of services in support of the delivery of civil and resources construction projects at diverse locations within the eastern states of Australia. Examples of recent projects delivered with major input from Shearwater Projects include:
MACH Energy – Mount Pleasant project
From 2016 to 2019, Shearwater Projects provided on-site project delivery services (including construction management and project engineering) for the $65 million civil / earthworks component of the $600+ million Mount Pleasant Operation greenfield mine development project near Muswellbrook. As a foundation member of the owner’s team, Shearwater Projects managed the design and construction of nine major dams (including a 3.3Gl tailings dam and 2.2Gl mine water dam), mine access roads, haul roads, drainage infrastructure, MIA pad, magazine and reload pads, crushing & screening and the HV go-line / water truck fill civils. In addition, Shearwater Projects provided technical and management support to Wybong Road upgrades, Rail Loop and CHPP civils Moolaraben Coal Stage 2 - Open Cut 4
In 2015-16, Shearwater Projects provided on-site project engineering and construction management support for the $20 million site wide earthworks component of the $400 million Moolarben Stage 2 Open Cut 4 project. As a key component of the owner's team, Shearwater Projects managed the design and construction of several major dams, sealed access roads to local government standards, drainage (CSP's, concrete), crushing & screening (500,000+ tonnes), conveyor formations, rail loop earthworks and the MIA pad. In addition Shearwater Projects provided technical support to the HV workshop extension and CHPP upgrade works. Coffs Harbour Council - Spagnolos Road Stormwater Detention Basin. In 2014, Shearwater Projects undertook estimating and bid management for Flintstone Group, in support if its tender for the Spagnolos Road Detention Basin project at Coffs Harbour. The Flintstone bid was successful and Shearwater Projects went on to provide Project Management, Contracts Administration, Programming and Construction support throughout the delivery phase of this earthworks, roadworks and drainage project Maranoa Regional Council - NDRRA Flood Recovery Roadworks In 2013-14 Shearwater Projects provided a range of management services to NJ Contracting, a civil and earthmoving contractor based in Roma, Queensland. Shearwater Projects provided project management, construction management and contracts administration support for two separate road reconstruction projects in the Maranoa region (combined value $14m). The scope of works included pavement stabilisation, granular overlays and bituminous surfacing, along with drainage, floodways and kerb reconstruction at multiple locations. In 2013 - 14 Shearwater Projects provided estimating, project management and contracts administration support to NJ Contracting's CSG earthworks services throughout the Surat Basin. The services contracts incorporated a broad scope of works including: - wellsite earthworks construction; - access roads and off-plot road construction and maintenance services; - wellsite rehabilitation services; - environmental works including ESC services and batter stabilisation; - dams and open drainage construction; and - reinforced concrete construction services
Ulan West - Civils Package No.1
In 2011 - 12 Shearwater Projects provided comprehensive management support to NMS Contractors in order to secure and deliver the $12 million Civil Package No.1 as a component of Xstrata Coal's $1.3 billion Ulan West Project. The Project involved provision of the main civil components for the new mine development including: - the main site access road, carparks and industrial pavements - various dams, open drains and water retaining structures - multiple earthworks components for the MIA, longwall mockup pad, conveyor formations etc - piped drainage, including several 6-cell 1500mm diameter culverts and associated structures Shearwater Projects provided first-principles estimating, bid management, project management, commercial management and project close-out services. Ulan West - Boxcut Excavation
In 2011 - 12 Shearwater Projects provided estimating, bid management and project delivery management support for NMS Contractors $80 million Ulan West Boxcut Excavation. This major mine development project as statutory Coal Mine Operator included: - 13 million cubic metres of waste removal (including drill & blast) - 2 million tonnes of coal extraction and haulage - 3 million cubic metres of earthworks for the hub stockpile, conveyor formations and boxcut floor re-filling The boxcut excavation project involved over 200 personnel on a 24/7 operational basis and included all statutory coverage for the Ulan West Project. Cadia East - Raising Upper Rodds Creek Dam
In 2011, NMS Contractors secured and delivered a $12 million project to raise the Upper Rodds Creek water storage dam by 10 metres. Shearwater Projects Director Ian Lewis undertook estimating and bid management during the tender phase, then went on to provide project management support during the delivery phase. This major dam project included: - over 1 million cubic metres of rock fill - 30,000 cubic metres of clay core - 15,000 cubic metres of sand filter material and - 6,000 cubic metres of wave protection rock |
